Elmhurst's Scrimpsher, North Park's Sund named CCIW Baseball Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Elmhurst’s Jordan Scrimpsher and North Park’s Ethan Sund were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Baseball Players of the Week on Tuesday.
 
Scrimpsher, a senior infielder from Decatur, Illinois and Warrensburg-Latham High School, helped lead the Bluejays to a sweep of the Illinois Institute of Technology on Saturday and Sunday in Jacksonville, Illinois. He batted .533 (8-for-15) with three home runs, seven RBI, one double, six runs and a 1.200 slugging percentage in the three-game sweep. He was 4-for-5 with three runs scored, one double, one walk and one RBI in a 17-7 game one victory on Saturday. In game two, he was 1-for-4 with one run scored, one home run and one RBI in a 6-2 Bluejay win. On Sunday, he ended the series by going 3-for-6 with two runs, five RBI and two home runs in a 16-7 win. Through four games this season, Scrimpsher is hitting .526 with four homers and 10 RBI.  
 
Sund, a junior pitcher from Huntley, Illinois and Huntley High School, moved his record to 2-0 following a 9-0 shutout of Mount Union on Saturday at the Central Florida Invitational in Auburndale, Florida. He pitched all seven innings in game two of a doubleheader against the Purple Raiders as he gave up no runs on four hits, with just one walk and 11 strikeouts. Sund has not surrendered a run in his 13 innings of work so far this season. In two appearances, he’s struck out 17 batters, allowed two walks and just nine total base runners.
