CCIW Wrestling teams compete at great lakes regional

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) wrestling teams competed at the Great Lakes Regional at Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minn. last Saturday.

Elmhurst was the highest placing CCIW team as the Bluejays finished second with a score of 116.5. Jake Oster (125 pounds), Kyle Katz (157 pounds) and Mark Corsello (285 pounds) each advanced to the NCAA Division III Championship by winning their respective regional titles. Jeff Kastel placed second at 149 pounds to qualify for the NCAA Championship.

Conference champion North Central placed fourth at the Great Lakes Regional with a score of 109.0 as three wrestlers advanced to the NCAA Division III Championship including Adam Johnson, Gabe Youel and Ben Youel.

Wheaton and Augustana were the other conference teams at the regional as the Thunder placed eighth with a score of 42.0 while the Vikings were 12th with a score of 21.5.
