six cciw student-athletes named wrestling all-americans
NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) members Elmhurst and North Central each had three student-athletes earn all-America status as both teams put forth a successful weekend during the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships at Coe College Friday and Saturday.
Elmhurst and North Central placed in the top 10 as a team as the Bluejays finished eighth (38 points) while the Cardinals were ninth (37.5 points).
For Elmhurst, Jake Oster (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) placed fifth at 125 pounds, which was his second consecutive all-America honor. Jeff Kastel (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Hindsale Central) was fifth at 149 pounds, earning his first all-America honor while Mark Corsello (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South) was seventh at 285 pounds.
North Central also had three student-athletes earn all-American status as Adam Johnson (Portland, Mich./H.S.) was third at 133 pounds and became North Central's only three-time all-American. Gabe Youel (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) earned his first all-American status with a fourth place finish at 184 pounds while his brother Ben Youel (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) took fourth at 165 pounds.
