CCIW Indoor Track And Field
illinois wesleyan women, north central men win cciw indoor track & field Titles
KENOSHA, Wis. -- Illinois Wesleyan won its first ever conference title in women's indoor track and field while the North Central men picked up their eighth straight title during the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday at Carthage's Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center.
The Titan women won with a team score of 187.50, followed by North Central (160), Augustana (134), Wheaton (63), Carthage (60), Millikin (38.50), Elmhurst (10) and North Park (7).
North Central won on the men's side with a team score of 220, followed by Augustana (141.50), Illinois Wesleyan (91), Carthage (90), Wheaton (56.50), Millikin (31), Elmhurst (20) and North Park (12).
Illinois Wesleyan's Rachel Anderson was named the 2008 CCIW Women's Track Athlete of the Meet while North Central's Rachel Secrest was the Field Athlete of the Meet. Illinois Wesleyan was named the Women's Coaching Staff of the Year.
Segun Olopo from Illinois Wesleyan earned the 2008 CCIW Men's Track Athlete of the Meet honors while Augustana's Ted McMillan was the Field Athlete of the Meet. North Central took home Men's Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
Anderson won the 400-meter dash (56.65) while Secrest was champion in the long jump (18-0 1/4). Olopo won the 55-meter dash (6.34) and the 200-meter dash (21.93). McMillan won the 55-meter hurdles (7.73) and the high jump (6-5).
