Trella, holisky, vande lune named cciw swimmers of the week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Rose-Hulman's Katie Trella and Steven Vande Lune, along with Illinois Wesleyan's Eleanor Holisky were named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Swimmers of the Week Tuesday.

Trella, a sophomore from Des Plaines, Ill., and Maine South High School, paced the Rose-Hulman women with two victories and a second place finish against nationally-ranked DePauw on Friday, January 9. Trella took top honors in the 500-yard freestyle (5:27.02) and finished second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:05.65). She was also a member of the winning 200-yard medley relay squad that opened the meet with a win as the team finished with a time of 2:04.82.

Holisky, a sophomore from Waukegan, Ill., and Waukegan High School, earned un-tapered best times in both of her events against Principia on Saturday, January 10.  She dropped three-and-half seconds in the 500 freestyle and over three seconds in the 200 IM. Her time of 5:51.02 in the 500 freestyle was a first place finish and she was second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:31.75.

Vande Lune, a senior from Kokomo, Ind., and Kokomo High School, led the way for the Engineers against nationally ranked DePauw last Friday, achieving first place finishes in both the 1000-yard freestyle (10:26.82) and the 500 freestyle (5:00.23).  He was also a member of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay which posted a time of 1:32.62. The men fell just 20 points shy of DePauw losing 128-108.
