Tomazin, betzle of illinois wesleyan named cciw swimmers of the week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Angela Tomazin and Chris Betzle of Illinois Wesleyan were named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Swimmers of the Week Tuesday after their performances during the past week of competition.

Tomazin, a junior from Wheaton, Ill., and Wheaton-Warrenville South High School, competing in a dual meet against Principia, started off the meet
with an untapered best in the 50 backstroke and a first place finish in the medley relay. She had her untapered best time in the 100 freestyle (55.70), which is over a half a second faster than her previous best and was a first place finish. She also had two second place finishes in the 100 backstroke and 100 fly.

Betzle, a sophomore from East Moline, Ill., and United Township High School, had his personal best time in the 1000 freestyle in a dual meet against Principia, finishing with a time of 10:00.75, good enough for first place. His time was 27 seconds faster than his previous best. Betzle also placed second in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:11.40. Later in the meet, he placed second in the 100 butterfly (57.46). He was also a member of the winning 400 freestyle relay.
