Carthage sweeps cciw swimmer of the week honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Michelle Pelka and Bryce Davis of Carthage were named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) swimmers
of the week Tuesday after their performances during the past week of competition.
Pelka, a freshman from Elgin, Ill., and Elgin Academy, won four events
at the Kalamazoo Triangular meet with Kalamazoo and Hope over the weekend. Pelka set school records in both the 200 Fly and 400 IM, winning with times of 2:11.53 and 4:42.68 respectively. Pelka also won the 100 Fly (1:01.22) and 200 IM (2:14.43).
Davis, a junior from Mequon, Wis., and Homestead High School, won three individual events at the Kalamazoo Triangular meet with Kalamazoo and Hope. Davis swept the 50 and 100 freestyles with times of 21.90 and 48.31 respectively. The defending CCIW Champion also came from behind to win the 100 Fly (52.73) and swam fly on the winning 400 Medley Relay. Davis also anchored the Red Men’s third place 400 Freestyle relay with the fastest split of the meet (47.06).
