Carthage's Croix, Trella named cciw swimmers of the week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Amanda Croix and Chris Trella of Carthage were named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Swimmers of the Week Tuesday after their performances during the past week of competition.

Croix, a freshman from Bradley, Ill., and Bradley-Bourbonnais High School, took first and achieved meet records in the 50 freestyle (24.78), 100 freestyle (54.25) and 200 freestyle (1:59.02) during the Wisconsin Private College Championships over the weekend. In addition, Croix swam the anchor leg on the 200 free relay, finishing her leg with a time of 24.27.

In his final regular-season home meet, Trella, a senior from Des Plaines, Ill., and Maine West High School, anchored the winning 200 Medley, 200 Freestyle, and 800 Freestyle Relays during the Wisconsin Private College Championships. Each swim was well under his previous season bests. Trella also finished 8th in the 100 backstroke with an un-rested season-best time.
