cciw individuals take part in 2009 ncaa divison iii swimming & Diving championships

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) had six student-athletes earn all-America honors at the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, hosted by Macalester College.

Carthage's Amanda Croix (Bradley, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais) earned all-America status in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle. Croix finished third in the 50-yard freestyle (23.10) and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (50.29).

Carthage's Michelle Pelka (Elgin, Ill./Elgin Academy) also earned all-America status in two individual events. She finished fourth in the 400-yard individual medley (4:25.24) and eighth in the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.14).

The team of Sarah Reynertson (Itasca, Ill./Lake Park), Alyssa Messina (Medinah, Ill./Lake Park), Pelka and Croix finished sixth in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:35.23.

Carthage's Stephen Schranck (Alton, Ill./Marquette Catholic) was named an all-American on the men's side in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:01.67. Illinois Wesleyan's Michael Kozak (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) placed 11th in the 200-yard butterfly (1:50.30) and was named an honorable mention all-American.

The Carthage women's team finished ninth with a team score of 114 while on the men's side, Carthage tied for 40th with 12 points and Illinois Wesleyan tied for 46th with six points.
