Carthage’s Swegle, Illinois Wesleyan’s Betzle Earn CCIW Swimmer of the Week Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Carly Swegle of Carthage and Chris Betzle of Illinois Wesleyan earned College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) swimmer of the week recognition Wednesday after their performances during the previous week of competition.

Swegle, a senior from Moline, Ill., swam a lifetime best in the 200 fly in a double dual meet against Wheaton and the University of Chicago on Saturday, Jan. 20. Her time of 2:21.41 was good enough for second in the event and was two seconds better than her previous best time. She also placed fifth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:23.49.

Betzle, a senior from East Moline, Ill., won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:04.63 against Millikin. His time was six seconds faster than his time from last semester for an untapered best time.
