Carthage’s Fridline, Illinois Wesleyan’s Kozak Earn CCIW Swimmer of the Week Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Meredith Fridline of Carthage and Mike Kozak of Illinois Wesleyan earned College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) swimmer of the week recognition Tuesday after their performances during the previous week of competition.

Fridline, a senior from Burton, Mich. and Powers Catholic High School, put forth a solid effort for the Lady Reds at the Grinnell (Iowa) Invitational last weekend. She finished third in the 400 IM with a time of 4:55.52 as well as fourth in the 200 fly (2:20.13). She also finished third in the 100 fly (1:03.63), seventh in the 200 IM (2:20.87) and was part of four relay teams.

Kozak, a freshman from Aurora, Ill., and Waubonsie Valley High School, achieved a lifetime best in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:02.42, good enough for a first place finish in a dual meet versus DePauw. His time was four seconds faster than at the DePauw Invitational in December. He also placed second in the 100 butterfly with an untapered best time of 55.46.
