Carthage’s Trella Earns CCIW Swimmer of the Week Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Chris Trella of Carthage earned College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) swimmer of the week recognition Tuesday after his performance during the previous week of competition.

Trella, a junior from Des Plaines, Ill., and Maine West High School, anchored both of Carthage’s winning relays in a pair of double-dual meet victories over North Central (114-46) and Lawrence University (107-72) while also finishing second in the 100-yard butterfly. His splits of 23.32 and 23.50 were remarkably close to his in-season best times even after a tough training camp.

In addition, Trella led the junior class with the highest fall semester GPA among all four of the team’s graduating classes.
