Wheaton’s Burt, Carthage’s Schranck Earn CCIW Swimmer of the Week Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Katherine Burt of Wheaton and Stephen Schranck of Carthage earned College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) swimmer of the week recognition Tuesday after their performances during the previous week of competition.

Burt, a junior from Coronado, Calif., set PRs and NCAA cut times in finishing second in the 50 and 100 Free at the Wheaton Invitational over the weekend. She achieved times of 24.04 and 51.99 respectively as the Thunder placed fifth as a team.

Schranck, a sophomore from Alton, Ill., swam lifetime bests in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes while also turning in impressive swims in the 500 freestyle and 400 IM during the TYR/CollegeSwimming.com Classic. Schranck’s time of 2:04.15 in the 200 breaststroke was a new meet, school and pool record and ranks second-fastest in the country this year. Schranck also finished third in a 100 breaststroke heat that featured three of the eight-fastest times in the country. He also earned a NCAA ‘B’ cut with his second-place 4:07.75 in the 400 IM.
