Cupp, Linn and Shear Earn CCIW Swimmer of the Week Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Matt Cupp of North Central and Tim Linn of Wheaton were named Co-Swimmers of the Week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Tuesday, while on the women’s side, Renee Shear of Wheaton took home the honors in voting conducted by the CCIW swimming coaches.

Cupp, a junior from Naperville, Ill., won two individual events and was a member of the winning relay in a dual meet with Benedictine Friday night. At the CCIW Fall Classic Saturday, he was on the victorious 3x100 butterfly and 200 medley relays. Cupp accomplished this despite suffering a broken toe earlier in the week.

Linn, a sophomore from Germantown, Tenn., won the 100 free against UWM with a time of 48.11, only two-tenths off his tapered best of 2005. Linn was also second in the 50 with a time of 21.57, only 4/100s off his tapered time of last year.

Shear, a freshman from Annandale, Virginia, shed six seconds off her previous best time in the 400 medley relay. She split 1:09.2 in the breast leg of that event, topping her previous career best last season of 1:15.2.
