Fleishman Earns CCIW Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Val Fleishman of Illinois Wesleyan was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Monday after her performance during the previous week of competition.

Fleishman, a senior from Oak Brook, Ill., averaged 14.0 points and 7.7 rebounds as Illinois Wesleyan went 2-1 last week, including a win over previously unbeaten Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Fleishman had 15 points and 10 rebounds with two blocks in a one point loss at Lake Forest, then scored 15 points with six rebounds and a block in a win over Aurora. Against UW-Stevens Point, she had 12 points, seven rebounds, three blocks, four steals and handed out three assists.

For the week, Fleishman shot .471 from the field (16 of 34) and had nine of her 23 rebounds on the offensive glass.
