WHEATON & MILLIKIN TIE FOR FIRST PLACE IN COLLEGE CONFERENCE OF ILLINOIS & WISCONSIN PRE-SEASON WOMEN'S BASKETBALL POLL

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois - One year ago Wheaton and Millikin finished just one game apart in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin women's basketball race. The Crusaders of Beth Baker won just the second league title in school history with a 12-2 CCIW mark while Millikin failed in its attempt to capture a sixth straight CCIW title with an 11-3 mark. Those two teams figure to be in the hunt for top honors once again and a vote of the conference coaches seems to confirm that fact. Wheaton and Millikin tied for first place as each team totaled 46 points. Both teams each received four first place votes.
Illinois Wesleyan was third with 32 points while North Central tallied 28 points for fourth place. Carthage nailed down fifth place with 26 points while Elmhurst had 17 in sixth, Augustana garnered 16 in seventh and North Park was eighth with 13 points.
The pre-season coaches poll is conducted each year with the coaches voting for the other seven league teams. The coaches are not allowed to vote for their own clubs.
