Millikin’s Ippel Named CCIW Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Lindsay Ippel of Millikin was named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Monday after her performance during the previous week of competition.

Ippel, a senior forward from Decatur, Ill., and St. Teresa High School, helped Millikin improve its CCIW record to 1-1 with a 68-63 upset win at No. 5 Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday. In doing so, Ippel put her name atop Millikin’s all-time scoring list. In two games this week, Ippel averaged 29.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, both team highs. She also collected four blocks, two steals and four assists while shooting .720 from the field and .742 from the free throw line. In an 80-70 loss to Carthage last Tuesday, Ippel posted her fourth 30-plus point game of the season with 31 points on 10-of-13 shooting and 11-of-15 from the free throw line. She also added six rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal in 40 minutes of play. Against Illinois Wesleyan, Ippel led all scorers with 28 points (8-of-12 FG, 12-of-16 FT) and led Millikin with nine rebounds. She also added two assists, three blocks and one steal in 40 minutes of play.
