Wheaton’s Jones Named CCIW Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Sarah Jones of Wheaton was named College Conference of Illinois
& Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Monday after her performance during the previous week of competition.
Jones, a sophomore guard from Glen Ellyn, Ill., and Wheaton Academy, helped lead the Thunder to a pair of victories last week. Jones averaged 19.0 points per game, shooting 73.9 percent (17-of-23) from the field, with a 57.1 percent (four-of-seven) effort from
three-point range. In a 73-66 win at Chapman University on Thursday, January 3, Jones scored a career-high 21 points, with a 10-of-14 effort from the field. Jones scored 17 points in the second half to help lead a Wheaton rally from a 15-point deficit at halftime. On Saturday, January 5, she scored a game-high 17 points to help lead the Thunder to a 69-41 win at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
