Ippel, Heydorn Named CCIW Co-Women’s Basketball Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Lindsay Ippel of Millikin and Mallory Heydorn of Illinois Wesleyan were named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Co-Women’s Basketball Players of the Week Monday after their performances during the previous week of competition.

Ippel, a senior forward from Decatur, Ill., and St. Teresa High School, helped Millikin to a three-game winning streak last week, averaging 25.3 points per game (76 points) and 7.7 rebounds per game (23 rebounds) in the three contests. She shot .674 from the field and .900 from the free throw line while playing 40 minutes in all three outings. She also added nine assists, five blocks and six steals. In a 77-62 win over Fontbonne on Dec. 9, she moved into No. 3 in Millikin’s career scoring list, surpassing 1,500 career points. She finished the game with a double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds with two assists, two blocks and four steals. In a 91-72 win over Illinois College on Dec. 7, she scored 30-plus points in a game for the 10th time in her career with 32 points and seven rebounds (team high), four assists, one block and two steals. In a 67-60 win over McKendree on Dec. 5, she scored 18 points with six rebounds, three assists and two blocks.

Heydorn, a junior guard from LaGrange, Ill., and Lyons Township High School, averaged 19.5 points in two Illinois Wesleyan wins including an NCAA record-setting effort on Dec. 4 at Fontbonne. Heydorn had her fifth career game with seven three-point field goals (in 10 attempts) as she scored 22 points with three assists to lead Illinois Wesleyan to a 98-72 win over Fontbonne on Dec. 4 in St. Louis. In the game, the Titans and Fontbonne combined for 27 three-point field goals to set an NCAA Division III record. On Dec. 8 Heydorn scored 17 in a 97-62 home win over Illinois-Springfield and was five-for-10 from behind the arc with three assists. For the week she was 12-of-20 in three-point accuracy (.600).
