Wheaton’s Trenz Named CCIW Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Jill Trenz of Wheaton was named women’s basketball player of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Monday after her performance during the previous week of competition.

Trenz, a junior center from Cincinnati, Ohio, led the Thunder to a 49-46 victory against ninth-ranked Calvin College on Friday night as she scored 13 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. On Tuesday Trenz led Wheaton in a 55-40 win at Ripon College with 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field. She added 10 rebounds, four blocked shots and three steals in the road victory. On Saturday the Thunder lost an 83-81 overtime decision to second-ranked Hope College, however, Trenz shot 9-of-12 from the field to score 19 points and she grabbed six rebounds, with three assists and three blocked shots. For the week she averaged 16 points per game, with a 62.2 percent (23-37) field goal percentage and 8.7 rebounds per game.
