Elmhurst’s Long Named CCIW Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Lyndsie Long of Elmhurst was named women’s basketball player of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tuesday after her performance during the previous week of competition.
Long, a freshman forward from Sugar Grove, Ill., was named the MVP of the Cal. Tech. T-Day Tournament after leading Elmhurst to a pair of wins. On Friday, Long poured in a game-high 18 points (7-of-13 shooting) and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds in the Bluejays’ 53-36 win over Macalester. She also recorded three steals, three assists and a block in the win. On Saturday, Long scored a career-high 23 points (9-of-14) in Elmhurst’s 71-61 win over Southwestern College (Ariz.). She also grabbed six rebounds, recorded two assists, two blocks and a steal. For the tournament, she scored 41 points while shooting 59.3 percent from the floor (16-of-27).
