Ippel, Bull Share Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Lindsay Ippel of Millikin and Sarah Bull of Illinois Wesleyan were named co-women’s basketball players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tuesday after their performances during the previous week of competition.

Ippel, a junior forward from Decatur, Ill., is averaging 24 points and 11.5 rebounds per game through the first two games as Millikin opened the season with a 2-0 record. The Big Blue opened the season at home in its 7th Annual Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament. Ippel was a big part of those wins and was named to the all-tournament team. In Friday night’s 74-71 win over Marygrove (Mich.), Ippel tied her career highs for points (29 on 7-of-12 shooting) and rebounds (19, 12 defensive). In a 101-40 win over Webster on Sunday, she played just 19 minutes but was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field and 7-of-12 from the free throw line for 19 points. She also picked up three steals, one block and four rebounds against Webster.

Bull, a junior guard from Lewistown, Ill., was instrumental in helping IWU go 2-0 for the first time in coach Mia Smith’s nine seasons as the Titans won its own Tip-Off Tournament. On Sat., Nov. 18, Bull scored 25 points, got five rebounds and handed out four assists in leading the Titans to a 77-68 win over preseason No. 3 DePauw. She was 8 for 11 from the field, including 5-of-6 from beyond the arc, and made 4-of-6 free throws. In IWU’s 92-69 win over Central (Iowa) Bull scored 18 points and got six rebounds. For the weekend Bull was 14 for 22 from the field (.636), 6-of-9 from three-point range (.667) and 9-of-11 at the free throw line (.818).
