Illinois Wesleyan tops Millikin 83-67 to advance to title game
WHEATON, Ill. -- Illinois Wesleyan advanced to the title game of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Basketball Tournament Friday in an 83-67 win over Millikin.
The Titans advance to the title game against Wheaton at 2 p.m. Saturday in a rematch of last year's tournament championship.
Illinois Wesleyan quickly jumped out to a 38-28 lead at halftime behind a 6-of-12 effort from behind the three-point line. Each team, however had an identical 42.9 percent shooting clip at intermission.
Millikin lost the turnover battle with 21, while Illinois Wesleyan had only 14.
The Titans had five players finish in double figures in scoring as Claire Sheehan led the way with 21 points. Sarah Bull had 19, while Thea Rogers had 12. Tasha Gaston-Bell and Crystal Dye each had 10 for Illinois Wesleyan.
Millikin's Lindsay Ippel led all scorers with 25, while Laura Engstrom, Tracie Yantis and Kelley Steers all had 10 for the Big Blue.
