Wheaton’s Wiele Named CCIW Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Andy Wiele of Wheaton was named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Monday after his performance during the previous week of competition.

Wiele, a junior center from St. Louis, Mo., and Westminster Christian Academy, helped lead the Thunder to a pair of road wins last week. Wiele averaged 19 points and 11.5 rebounds per game while shooting 65.4 percent (17-of-26) from the field in leading his squad to a 2-0 record. On Thursday night Wheaton earned a 71-54 win at Carthage as Wiele scored 22 points and pulled down 14 rebounds. He followed that on Saturday night with 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field, and nine rebounds in Wheaton’s 59-54 win at North Park.
