Elmhurst’s Michael, Augustana’s Delp Named CCIW Co-Men’s Basketball Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Elmhurst’s Nick Michael and Augustana’s Jordan Delp were named co-men’s basketball players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Monday after their performances during the previous week of competition.

Michael, a senior center from West Chicago, Ill., and West Chicago High School, was named tournament MVP at the Bluejay Backer Classic over the weekend. In a 98-91 win over UW-Whitewater on Sunday, December 17, Michael tied his career-high with 28 points, while pulling down 12 rebounds in 30 minutes. The victory was the seventh straight for Elmhurst. On Saturday, December 16, Elmhurst defeated Kalamazoo 84-57 as Michael scored 15 points and had eight rebounds in 27 minutes.

Delp, a junior guard from Mout Carroll, Ill., and Mount Carroll High School, scored a total of 37 points last week as the 10th-ranked Vikings won a pair of games to move to 8-1 on the season. In a 64-60 win at Cornell on Tuesday, December 12, he scored 15 points on 7-of-15 from the floor and hauled in five rebounds, had one assist and two steals. In a 92-77 win at home against Wartburg on Sunday, December 17, he scored 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including 2-of-4 from three-point range and 6-of-7 from the free throw line. He grabbed three rebounds and had three assists and two steals. For the week he averaged 18.5 points and 4.0 rebounds, shot .500 (14-28) from the floor and .857 (6-7) from the free throw line. He totaled four assists and four steals and had just one turnover in 60 minutes of play.
