Wheaton’s Raymond Named CCIW Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Wheaton’s Kent Raymond was named the player of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Monday after his performance during the previous week of competition.
Raymond, a sophomore guard from New Palestine, Ill., helped lead the Thunder to two victories against top-10 teams last weekend in the CCIW-MIAA Classic. Raymond averaged 24.3 points per game for the Thunder last week, shooting 51.1 percent (24-47) from the field, with a 59.1 percent (13-22) clip from three-point range. Raymond scored 24 points, with seven assists and five rebounds in a 73-62 win against ninth-ranked Calvin College on Friday. On Saturday, Wheaton defeated fifth-ranked Hope College 73-70 as Raymond scored 17 points, with six assists. Raymond scored a career-high 32 points, with six three-pointers and four assists against the University of Chicago last Wednesday.
