Wheaton’s Raymond Named CCIW Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Kent Raymond of Wheaton was named men’s basketball player of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Monday after his performance during the previous week of competition.

Raymond, a sophomore guard from New Palestine, Ind., and New Palestine High School, helped lead the Thunder to a pair of victories last week as he averaged 23 points and 3.5 assists per game with a 51.9 percent (14-of-27) field goal percentage. Raymond led the Thunder to a 71-67 come-from-behind victory against 17th-ranked Carthage College last Wednesday night. Raymond scored 23 points on 8-for-14 shooting from the field and four assists against the Red Men. Raymond scored seven of his points in a critical 17-4 Wheaton scoring run late in the second half that allowed the Thunder to turn an eight-point deficit into a five-point lead. Last Saturday Wheaton defeated North Park 85-73 as Raymond scored 21 points with four rebounds.
