Simmons Named CCIW Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Anthony Simmons of North Central was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Monday after his performance during the previous week of competition.

Simmons, a junior forward from Bolingbrook, Ill., scored a game-high 29 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as North Central upset top-ranked and undefeated Illinois Wesleyan 74-70 on Jan. 4. Simmons was 9 of 18 from the field and 2 of 4 from three-point range.

Simmons then scored 16 points, grabbed five boards and dished out seven assists in a 103-72 win over Aurora University on Jan. 7. Simmons was 6 of 10 from the field and a perfect 2 of 2 from beyond the three-point arc.
