Bollier Earns CCIW Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Honors
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Tony Bollier of Wheaton was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Monday after his performance during the previous week of competition.
Bollier, a senior guard from Leo, Ind., averaged 28 points per game as Wheaton opened the season at its own Lee Pfund Classic. Bollier shot 58.6 percent (17-29) from the field, with 55.6 percent (5-9) coming from the three-point range. He was a flawless 17-for-17 from the free throw line. Bollier also grabbed eight rebounds and had five assists on the weekend.
He scored 26 points on Friday in Wheaton’s season-opening 85-72 win against Concordia (Wis.). Wheaton lost a nail-biter 73-72 to nationally-ranked Aurora in the tournament championship game, but Bollier played all 40 minutes, scored a career-high 30 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists. He was named to the all-tournament team of the Pfund Classic.
