four from cciw earn d3hoops.com all-america honors
NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Four student-athletes from four different College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) member institutions were named to the 2009 D3Hoops.com All-America Team Tuesday.
On the men's side, three from the CCIW were named all-Americans as Wheaton’s Kent Raymond (Cumberland, Ind./New Palestine) earned first team recognition while Elmhurst's Brent Ruch (Farmer City, Ill./Blue Ridge) was named to the second team and Carthage's Steve Djurickovic (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Bradford) was named to the third team. Djurickovic was the only sophomore to be named an all-American.
This was the second-straight season that Raymond was named to the first team after helping lead the Thunder to their first CCIW title since 1999. Both Ruch and Djurickovic were named to the fourth team last season.
On the women’s side, Illinois Wesleyan’s Christina Solari (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South) earned third team recognition after helping lead the Titans to a 30-1 overall record (14-0 in the conference) and second straight CCIW title. This was Solari's first time as a member of the D3Hoops.com All-America Team.
