raymond, wessels, ruch named nabc all-midwest district
NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Three College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) men's basketball players were named National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-Midwest District Team members Thursday.
Wheaton's Kent Raymond (New Palestine, Ind.) was named to the first team while Augustana's Brett Wessels (Bettendorf, Iowa/H.S.) and Elmhurst's Brent Ruch (Farmer City, Ill./Blue Ridge) were named to the second team.
Raymond led Wheaton in scoring with an average of 24.5 points per game in leading the Thunder to the NCAA Division III Tournament's "Elite Eight". For his efforts, Raymond was selected as the CCIW's Fred Young Most Outstanding Player in 2007-08.
Wessels averaged 14.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in 29 starts for Augustana. The Vikings advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament this season. Ruch was second on his team in scoring (16.5 points per game) and led the team in rebounding (8.6 per game), assists (74), and field goal percentage (.618).
