Augustana Wins CCIW Men’s Basketball Tournament in 78-70 Victory over Elmhurst
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings, after winning the regular season title, took home the championship at the 2007 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Basketball Tournament Saturday, beating No. 2 seed Elmhurst 78-70.

With the win, Augustana earned the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Last season, the Vikings earned an at-large bid and advanced all the way to the sectional round, losing to Puget Sound. The victory tonight was the first CCIW Tournament victory for Augustana.

Elmhurst finishes 21-6 (10-4 in the CCIW) and awaits word on a possible at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Jordan Delp led Augustana with 19 points, while Dain Swetalla had 15. Brian Lee led Elmhurst with 18 points, while Pat Bacon had 16.
