D3Hoops.com Announces All-Region Teams

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- D3Hoops.com, a website devoted to the coverage of NCAA Division III basketball, announced its all-region teams Wednesday as nine players, five men and four women, were represented from College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) schools.

Kent Raymond of Wheaton and Zach Freeman of Illinois Wesleyan earned first team honors in the Midwest Region, while Dan Walton of North Central was named to the second team. Drew Wessels of Augustana and Brent Ruch of Elmhurst were named to the third team. All five players earned first team all-CCIW honors during the 2006-07 season. In addition, Raymond was named player of the year in the Midwest Region to go along with his conference player of the year award.

On the women’s side, Lindsay Ippel of Millikin earned player of the year honors in the Central Region, as well as earning first team honors. Mallory Heydorn of Illinois Wesleyan and Laura Mount of North Park earned second team honors, while Jill Trenz of Wheaton was named to the third team.

Players were nominated by the Sports Information Directors at various schools throughout the country as 638 players were nominated nationwide. The SIDs voted for 10 players in their region, voting for six frontcourt players and four backcourt players.

The All-American teams will be announced on the audiocast of the national title games according to the D3Hoops.com website.
