Augustana's mccarter named cciw men's tennis player of the week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Augustana's Andy McCarter was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Tennis Player of the Week Tuesday after his performance during the past weekend of competition.

McCarter, a senior from Dixon, Ill., and Dixon High School, finished 6-0 during the past week, posting singles wins against Patrick Mullen of Wartburg (6-2, 6-1) and Sam Raife of Grinnell (7-6 (5), 4-6, (13-11)) at No. 3 singles. He also won by retirement 1-1, 30-love against Michael Wajda of Carroll at No. 2 singles. In doubles, McCarter teamed with sophomore Geoff Schoon for an 8-3 win against Mullen and Aaron Masterson of Wartburg at No. 2 doubles. He won twice with senior Rafael Romero, defeating Carroll's Michael Ware and Wajda (8-5) at No. 1 doubles and knocked off Grinnell's Jordan Lee and Raife (8-4) at No. 2 doubles.
