Callicutt, Benthusen Named CCIW Softball Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Sarah Callicutt of Wheaton and Allie Benthusen of Carthage were named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) softball players of the week Tuesday after their performances during the previous week of competition.

Callicutt, a junior outfielder from Duluth, Ga., and Chattahoochee High School, helped Wheaton to a 4-1-1 record last week with a .476 (10-21) batting average, six RBI, six runs scored and two stolen bases. Seven of her 10 hits last week were extra-base hits (five doubles and two home runs) as she posted a 1.000 slugging percentage. In a 4-1 win at North Park on Friday, Callicutt went three-for-four with a double and a home run. In the second game of Friday’s twinbill with the Vikings, a 5-0 Thunder victory, she also went three-for-four with another home run and two doubles.

Benthusen, a sophomore pitcher from Elgin, Ill., and Larkin High School, went 2-0 last week. On April 24, Benthusen was the winning pitcher in a 5-3 decision at North Central. She allowed three runs on 10 hits and two walks over seven innings. On April 28, Benthusen allowed just a walk and no hits over seven innings in a 2-0 win over Millikin. Benthusen is now 10-6 on the season.
