Snoreck, Miller Earn CCIW Softball Player of the Week Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Brittany Snoreck of Augustana and Beth Miller of Wheaton were named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) softball players of the week Tuesday after their performances during the previous week of competition.

Snoreck, a freshman designated hitter from Orland Park, Ill., and Carl Sandburg High School, batted .529 last week as Augustana went 5-1 in six games with the only loss a 6-3 defeat at the hands of NCAA Division I Western Illinois on Tuesday, March 27. She played in all six games and collected nine hits in 17 at-bats with two runs scored, two doubles, seven runs-batted-in, two walks and one stolen base. She had multiple-hit games three times, including a three-for-three effort in a 10-0 win over Monmouth (Ill.) in the second game of a double header sweep of the Scotts on March 29. She had two hits in wins over Grinnell and Wisconsin-LaCrosse. She had two RBI in three games.

Miller, a junior pitcher from Rapid City, S.D., and Stevens High School, picked up two victories against the University of Chicago last Thursday, both in relief. In a 6-4 victory against the Maroons in the opener, Miller tossed four innings of relief, allowing just two hits, with no runs and seven strikeouts in earning the victory in the 6-4 Thunder win. She pitched 3-2/3 innings of relief in a 7-6 win against the Maroons in the second game to earn the victory. She allowed one run, on one hit as Wheaton swept a doubleheader from Chicago for the first time in more than 15 years. For the week Miller was 2-1 with a 2.76 ERA.
