North Central Sweeps Softball Player of the Week Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Kara Reid and Jenna Prieto of North Central were named softball players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Tuesday after their performances during the previous week of competition.

Reid, a freshman infielder from Naperville, Ill., and Neuqua Valley High School, hit .700 through four games of North Central’s Arizona trip to help the Cardinals go 3-1. The second baseman had seven hits in 10 at-bats with two doubles and four RBI. Reid was 3-for-3 with two RBI in a 6-1 win over Kalamazoo on Saturday.

Prieto, a freshman right-handed pitcher from Mokena, Ill., and Lincoln-Way East High School, went 2-0 in her two starts last week. She pitched seven innings and allowed six hits while striking out two and walking one in a 6-1 win over Kalamazoo on Saturday. On Friday, she pitched a three-hitter with three strikeouts and no walks in five innings of work in a 9-1 win over Marian College (Wis.).
