Kennedy, Miller Earn Softball Player of the Week Honors
NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Jade Kennedy of Millikin and Beth Miller of Wheaton were named softball players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Tuesday after their performances during the previous week of competition.
Kennedy, a freshman infielder from North Manchester, Ind., and Manchester High School, continued to provide a spark to the Millikin offense early in her first year. In a double-header sweep of Greenville last weekend, Kennedy hit .500 (4-of-8) with a double and two RBI. Seven games into the season, Kennedy is listed second for the Big Blue with a .467 average (7-of-15) with a double, triple and five RBI.
Miller, a junior pitcher from Rapid City, S.D., and Stevens High School, helped lead Wheaton to a 7-3 record at the Rebel Games in Kissimmee, Fla., last week. Miller posted a 4-1 record with a 1.58 ERA and an opponents batting average of just .221 with 26 strikeouts in 26-2/3 innings of work. Miller struck out nine batters in an 8-6 victory against Baldwin-Wallace last Monday. She ended the team’s trip with a streak of 16 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run.
