Augustana, Illinois wesleyan softball Teams earn ncaa berths

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Augustana and Illinois Wesleyan will travel to Eau Claire, Wis., on Thursday, May 10, for the regional round of the NCAA Softball Championship.

Augustana earned the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament title on Saturday, defeating Illinois Wesleyan 6-0 in the championship game. The win earned the Vikings the conference's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Championship as they finished the regular season with a 30-12 record. Augustana will be a No. 3 seed and will face No. 6 seed and regional host Eau Claire at noon.

Illinois Wesleyan earned one of the 17 at-large bids, finishing 31-12 during the regular season. The Titans will face St. Norbert at 2 p.m.

If Illinois Wesleyan and Augustana win, they will face each other on Friday at 2 p.m. If Augustana loses, they will play at noon on Friday, while if Illinois Wesleyan loses, they will play at 10 a.m.
