Deck, Epping Named CCIW Softball Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Illinois Wesleyan’s Ashley Deck and Carthage’s Kelsey Epping were named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Softball Players of the Week Tuesday after their performances during the previous week of competition.
Deck, a senior second baseman from Bolingbrook, Ill., and Bolingbrook High School, batted .684 with two doubles, a triple and four RBI in six Titan victories at the Rebel Spring Games in Orlando, Fla. Deck also walked twice, stole a base and scored a team-high eight runs. She had three-hit games against Endicott, Clarke and Framingham State and tallied two more hits against Allegheny. Her slugging percentage was .895 and she had a .714 on-base percentage.
Epping, a sophomore pitcher from Bloomington, Ill., and Tri Valley High School, went 4-1 in five starts on the Lady Reds’ 6-3 trip to the Florida Rebel Spring Games. Epping compiled a 1.36 ERA with 60 strikeouts in 33.3 innings pitched. She struck out 12 in a 9-3 win over the College of St. Benedict on March 16, 12 in five innings in an 8-0 decision over the College of Staten Island on March 18 and 13 in a 2-0 victory over Macalester College on March 20.
