North Central Sweeps CCIW Softball Player of the Week Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Central’s Laura Constantine and Jenna Prieto were named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Softball Players of the Week Tuesday after their performances during the previous week of competition.

Constantine, a freshman from Naperville, Ill., and Waubonsie Valley High School, is hitting .500 with three doubles, one home run and five RBI as North Central is off to a 4-2 start this season at the Tucson Invitational Games. The designated hitter/player has also scored five runs and has a .929 slugging percentage and .533 on-base percentage through six games. Constantine went three-for-three with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI to help North Central post an 8-4 victory over nationally-ranked Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Saturday, March 15.

Prieto, a sophomore pitcher from Mokena, Ill., and Lincoln-Way East High School, is currently 2-1 with a 1.75 earned-run average in three starts thus far for North Central this season. She has pitched 20 innings in her three games with 14 strikeouts and only three walks. Prieto allowed only one earned run on four hits with four strikeouts and one walk in an 11-2 victory over Babson College (Mass.) Saturday.
