Rymer, Frawley Named CCIW Softball Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Kim Rymer of Augustana and Katie Frawley of Illinois Wesleyan were named softball players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Tuesday after their performances during the previous week of competition.

Rymer, a junior from Vernon Hills, Ill., batted .643 with nine hits in 14 at-bats while scoring seven runs and collecting 10 RBI. She also had two doubles, two home runs, one walk and four stolen bases. She was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, three RBI and a home run in an 11-7 loss at Division I Western Illinois on April 20. She went 2-for-3 with two runs scored in an 11-0 win over North Park on April 22 and followed that with a 2-for-3, two run, three RBI, one home run performance in a 6-1 victory over North Park in game two. In a sweep of Carthage on April 23 she was 3-for-5 with one run scored, four RBI, two doubles and a stolen base.

Frawley, a senior from Oswego, N.Y., was 4-0 last week (four complete games) with three CCIW wins. For the week, she allowed only 22 hits in 28 innings, struck out 10 and walked five with an earned run average of 1.50. Batters hit only .208 against her. In three CCIW road games, she was the winning pitcher at North Central (6-2), Wheaton (4-2), and Elmhurst (2-0). Frawley also helped her own cause by hitting .379 for the week (11 for 29) with five doubles, a homer and seven RBI.
