Deck, O’Dell Named CCIW Softball Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Ashley Deck of Illinois Wesleyan and Katie O’Dell of Millikin were named softball players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Tuesday after their performances during the previous week of competition.

Deck, a sophomore second baseman from Bolingbrook, Ill., batted .476 in eight games at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla., leading the Titans to a 6-2 record for the week ending March 26. Deck had 10 hits in 21 at bats with a double and two triples, drove in six runs and scored five runs. She also had three sacrifice bunts
and handled 21 chances in the field without an error (13 putouts and eight assists).

O’Dell, a freshman from Wheaton, Ill., went 3-1 on the mound including one save during Millikin’s Spring Break trip. She threw 36 1/3 innings, allowing just six earned runs with 12 strikeouts. Her one loss came in one inning of relief. She threw at least seven innings in three of her five appearances and had a 0.80 ERA during the week.
