2005 Player of the week
North Central clinched the regular season portion of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin softball standings with a doubleheader sweep of second place Augustana last weekend. In the process the Cardinals won both the hitter of the week and pitcher of the week in the CCIW. Jacki Nelson was selected as the hitter of the week and Jessica Siegel was picked as the pitcher of the week as North Central went 6-0.
Nelson batted .522 with 12 hits in 23 at-bats with seven runs-batted-in. She hit safely in all six-conference games including three hit efforts against Carthage and Illinois Wesleyan. She delivered two game winning hits during the week. Her RBI single in the 16th beat Illinois Wesleyan on April 28 and her hit in the bottom of the ninth against Augustana ended that contest.
Siegel earned five wins in a week for the second straight week. She pitched 46 innings over a seven-day period, allowing just seven earned runs for a 1.07 earned run average. She is now the 12th 20 game winner in North Central history. She recorded both wins in complete game efforts in the double header sweep of Augustana on April 30th.
