Illinois Wesleyan in First after Second Round of 2008 CCIW Men’s Golf Championship

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan leads after the first two rounds of the 2008 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Golf Championship with a two-day team score of 590 (294-296).

The championship, which was held Friday and Saturday at Bolingbrook Golf Club, will continue with the third and fourth rounds on Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3 at Cantigny Golf in Wheaton, Ill.

Two-time defending champion Carthage is currently in second place with a two-day score of 591 (304-287) while Millikin is third with a score of 601 (303-298). Wheaton (305-305-610), North Park (312-318-630), North Central (326-308-634), Augustana (324-317-641) and Elmhurst (319-326-645) rounded out the team scoring.

2006 medalist Tyler Wollberg (Mundelein, Ill.) of Carthage leads after two rounds with a score of 143 (74-69) while teammate Matt Carr (Galesburg, Ill.) is second (74-70-144). Wheaton's Kyler Ferguson (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest Academy) is third (71-74-145), followed by Illinois Wesleyan's Chris Green (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove) (72-74-146), and Green's teammates Bennett Blakeman (Burr Ridge, Ill./Lyons) (73-74-147) and Matt Wennmaker (Oregon, Ill./H.S.) (75-72-147).

Millikin's J.B. Spillane (Mount Pleasant, Iowa/H.S.) (76-72-148) and Cory Henry (Algonquin, Ill./Dundee-Crown) (74-74-148) are currently tied for seventh while Wheaton's Chase Yacko (Toledo, Ohio/Sylvania Northview) is ninth (74-75-149).
