Four CCIW Student-athletes earn spot on Second annual d3baseball.com all-america team
NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- D3Baseball.com, a website devoted to the coverage of NCAA Division III baseball, announced its second annual All-America Team Wednesday as four student-athletes from four College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) schools earned a spot on the squad.
CCIW Player of the Year Brian Kolb (Carlsbad, Calif., Calif./Santa Fe Christian) was named the first team shortstop after leading the conference with a .527 batting average in 146 at-bats this season. Kolb had six home runs and 52 RBI for Wheaton this season.
Carthage's Jason Acevado (Vernon Hills, Ill./H.S.) was named a first team first baseman after batting .464 with a conference-leading 13 home runs and 66 RBI.
Augustana third baseman John Wagle (Rock Island, Ill./H.S.) was named to the third team after batting .419 with 11 home runs and 60 RBI. Wagle's home run total was tied for second in the conference this season.
CCIW Pitcher of the Year Brent Kulavic (Springfield, Ill./Pleasant Prairie) was named honorable mention after leading the conference with a 1.82 earned run average for Illinois Wesleyan this season. Kulavic was 6-1 in 12 appearances, striking out 59 and walking only 12.
