Josephson, Weaver Named CCIW Baseball Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Park’s Brady Josephson and Wheaton’s Josh Weaver were named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Baseball Players of the Week Tuesday after their performances during the previous week of competition.

Josephson, a senior infielder from Strathmore, Alberta, Canada and Strathmore High School, had a .642 batting average in seven games played at the Russ Matt Tournament in Arizona where the Vikings finished with a 4-3 record last week. He also had an .857 slugging percentage, a .714 on-base percentage, eight RBI, 13 runs scored and two stolen bases. He went a perfect four-for-four with an RBI and a run scored in North Park’s final game of the tournament against Marian (Wis.) College on March 15. Defensively, Josephson didn’t commit an error in 43 chances.

Weaver, a sophomore pitcher from Franklin Park, Ill., and East Leyden High School, posted a record of 1-0, with a save in two appearances last week. He accumulated an ERA of 0.00 in 10 innings of work, with 14 strikeouts. Weaver pitched a complete game in eight innings of work (a scheduled seven-inning game) in helping Wheaton to a 3-2 victory against Becker College last Thursday in Orlando, Florida. Weaver held Becker to just three hits and struck out 13 batters and both Becker runs were unearned. On Tuesday, he earned a save in one inning of relief as he struck out a batter in Wheaton’s 6-3 win against New Jersey City University.
