Illinois Wesleyan's Angel named ncbwa National hitter of the week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Illinois Wesleyan’s Ricky Angel was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division III National Hitter of the Week Thursday.
Angel, a senior second baseman from Glen Ellyn, Ill., and Glenbard West High School, batted .500 (10-for-20) and had a 1.150 slugging percentage as the Titans were 4-1 last week. Angel drove home seven runs in two separate games - going two-for-three with a grand slam and seven RBI in a 16-5 win against Wheaton on April 19 and he was two-for-six with two three-run homers and seven RBI in a 14-12 win at Monmouth on April 15. He was also three-for-four with two doubles and four RBI in a 17-10 win at Wheaton April 18. For the week Angel had 22 RBI, four doubles and three homers, drew three walks and was hit by pitches twice for a .600 on-base percentage. In the win over Monmouth, Angel became the school’s all-time leader in career RBI with 153.
