Angel, Aronson, Blakeley named preseason baseball all-americans
NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Illinois Wesleyan's Ricky Angel and Matt Aronson, along with Augustana's Marc Blakeley, were recently named to the 2008 D3Baseball.com Preseason All-America First Team.
Angel, a senior second baseman from Glen Ellyn, Ill., and Glenbard West High School, was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Year last season, batting .452 with 10 home runs and 54 RBI in 45 games played. Angel led the conference with the highest batting average in 2007.
Aronson, a junior pitcher from LaGrange, Ill., and St. Ignatius High School, was the CCIW's Pitcher of the Year, going 8-0 with a 0.85 earned run average with 70 strikeouts and only 20 walks in 12 appearances. Aronson held the conference's top ERA last season.
Blakeley, a senior outfielder from Richland Center, Wis., and Adams-Friendship High School, was a first-team all-conference selection in 2007, batting .448 with 10 home runs and 35 RBI in 49 games played. Blakeley was second only to Angel in conference batting average last season.
