Illinois wesleyan's angel, aronson earn ncbwa central region honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Ricky Angel and Matt Aronson of Illinois Wesleyan earned the 2007 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Central Region hitter and pitcher of the year honors respectively.

Both Angel and Aronson recently earned American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) all-region honors, as well as being named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year respectivley. The Titans finished 20-1 in conference play (32-13 overall), the best record in the history of the CCIW.

Angel (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) batted .457 in 2007 with 39 runs scored, 18 doubles, two triples, 10 home runs, 52 RBI, a .519 on-base percentage, a .778 slugging percentage and four-of-six stolen bases.

Aronson (LaGrange, Ill./Chicago-St. Ignatius) achieved an 8-0 record with a 0.41 ERA and 63 strikeouts in 65.1 innings pitched. Opponents batted .168 against him.
